From 1883 to 1887, one Balthazar Odescalchi referred to it as “ A pleasant home for wife and sons”. In the 1920s it occasionally hosted the Italian Royal Family. King Vittorio Emanuelle III and Queen Elena. Here they both enjoyed the music performed by the local Bands.

In 1930 Marconi rented the villa and soon erected some wire antennas to study progation, alignment of lobes, wave angle and ground reflection, ( The reference to this is his radio operator, Adelmo Landini in the book “ Navigando con Marconi a bordo del yacht Elettra”  year 1950 page 99 ).

Marconi’s daughter Princess Elettra was also born in 1930 to his second wife Mary Christine Bezzi Scali. In the same year on July 27th  i.e. 1930 Landini, heard a one way communication via EME, an uncommon intelligent signal echo with 2 seconds of delay from Rio de Janeiro. Then on July 30th Cardinal Eugenio Pacelli ( Future Pope XII ) baptized Elettra in the Villa. Later the same day Marconi and the Cardinal embarked on the yacht Elletra named after his little daughter which was docked nearby.

Which was patronized by actors, Marcello Mastroianni, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Peppino de Filippo, Silvana Pampanini and many more besides also the family of Marconi’s widow Christine.

Beautiful fireplace, wood paneling on the walls, high roof finished with dark wooden beams. The fireplace still depicts the Court of Arms.
